The past week was one doozy of a sluggish summer slump. I tried to fill up my days with appointments, dinners, coffee dates, movies, museum, opportunities to meet new people, good friends, and some of my favorite places. But really I just wanted to curl up like a burrito in my duvet and lay in front of my air conditioner.
This week is going to be better. I decided.
Starting with two cups of coffee, brunch at Public, sunshine and runny yolks. Setting myself up for success.
Public is down in one of my favorite neighborhoods on the Lower East Side. It has granite floors, big skylights, and little bars of wrapped soap you can take home as a souvenir. The brunch menu isn't huge and it definitely took time to win me over, but I could just sit in this space all Sunday long.
It was the Hokey Pokey ice cream that truly made me want to come back to Public... it left a sweet taste in my mouth and put a little bit of a spring in my step as we walked down Elizabeth Street.
After brunch we went to see The Change Up and enjoyed some blasted AC, then tonight I did three miles on the treadmill to get those endorphins pumping. If Sunday is a sign, I think it's going to be a really wonderful week.
