I've been traveling + living out of a suitcase since March 30th and I'm finally heading home after being in the Bay Area for the weekend. Seven different cities in two weeks. I was only slightly worried that I would get sick of being on the road that long, but I had nothing to worry about. It was awesome.
Mainly because everywhere I went, I was able to meet up and sit down with wonderful friends. You'll have to forgive me for bragging, but I know some really great people. In the span of two weeks, I only ate one single meal alone (it ironically happened to give me food poisoning and had me begging for mercy on the bathroom floor at 3 am.) I always had great company to pair with my food. And that means a lot to me. I got to catch up with longtime friends, brand new friends, people at the top of their game, people who give great advice, people who just make me laugh out loud.
I never shared before, but my One Little Word for 2012 was authentic. As the year progresses the word that keeps coming to mind is lucky. Many times I stop to think "I am lucky." Not just because of the opportunities that have come along, especially to travel to these cool places, but for the people that I know. They make me feel lucky.
I thought about this as I was getting ready this morning... I think that those two words come together to lead you down one path. Be you, be authentic, be real and you will get that back in return. You will be blessed with great people who chose to spend their time with you. And that makes for a pretty great life, I have to say.
