My best friend Erin came down from London for an extended weekend bringing along her two best friends, Jacky and Jennie. We had such a wonderful time exploring the city and just hanging out together. Today I woke up missing their company so I decided to take myself out to a special lunch at Frenchie To Go.
I've read that there's an Anglo food movement happening where instead of authentic French food, Parisians are wanting more English + American. I'm happy to participate. Frenchie To Go is Anglo with a French twist and actually feels very New York City. It's also the sister restaurant of the very famous and exclusive restaurant Frenchie, where reservations are extremely hard to come by. Frenchie To Go it is!
The restaurant, be it tiny, is extremely photogenic and so is the food. I had a pastrami sandwich (enter my NYC musings) and fries with mayo. The lobster roll also looked amazing but at 22 Euros, which equals about $30, I didn't splurge. However, I did add on a post-lunch donut and latte. The sugar on the top of the donut was the perfect sweetener for my coffee. And looked beautiful.
I love looking in people's bookcases so it thrilled me to see what cookbooks had been selected to be on display in the small case. Of course I had to take a photo. In fact I watched almost everyone in there take a photo of their food before eating, plus there was a professional photo shoot going on while I was there. There had also been a young boy helping serve and clear who ended up sitting down to lunch when lunch died down. Even he snapped a photo with his iPhone of his food before digging in. It seems Frenchie To Go is always an experience we want to remember.
