Back to answering some more questions :) I love seeing people's spaces and my fabulous old space was featured in the October 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes. I had a little nook in that Chicago apartment and was able to have everything organized and at my fingertips. But living in NYC is a completely different story. A friend was here over the weekend so I actually cleaned my room and snapped some photos. (I mean, Mom it's always this clean... I swear) (Who am I kidding she knows I'm a slob.) (Hi Dad!)
This is a fisheye photo of what I've got now, taken from my bed. Our apartment is pretty much IKEAville. I used to have two beautiful big Expedit bookcases and that has been reduced to this four square one. Someday the giant Expedits and I will be reunited and happy together. My favorite part of my room (well, besides the view) are the magnet boards with some of my favorite photos and notes.
I do keep some things under my bed like Fiskars punches, stickers, and this clothing container is full of other supplies. That cardboard box you see in the background weighs about 20 lbs and is full of punches. Somehow it has survied the move from my parents to Brooklyn and then to Manhattan. I don't know how it hasn't fallen apart yet... it is a miraculous box. I also have a lot of books in a big tub down there too. But that is it in terms of my supplies. Since I work in my bedroom I don't want scrapbooking to cover every inch of space, so I try to keep it contained.
A fisheye photo of what's up in my closet. That overflowing container is full of layouts that need to go into albums. I have about 20 American Crafts D-Ring albums. These are my favorite albums and I love the colors. Right now all but two of them are home in my closet at my parents house. Someday we will be reunited as well in my giant apartment down in the Meatpacking District. Someday... :)
I want to note that you see two paper holders on my bookcase and then a few packs up in my closet... this is ALL the paper that I own. And most of it is white cardstock ;) I probably used to have five paper holders stuffed, but I purged down when I came to NYC and that's all I need. You just learn to keep the stuff you really love and absolutely know that you'll use. So I want to tell you that you don't need to have a big elaborate scraproom or a mini scrapbook store in your house to really rock it :)
As for purchasing things online... I haven't purchased anything since uhhhh maybe September? My desire to have the newest greatest hottest products has passed. I try to make what I own/love work. And I'm really lucky to work for generous companies who supply me with great products... like have you seen the amazing new releases from American Crafts?!!! All my online shopping was done at Two Peas in a Bucket and I think they are the #1 online store. I don't belong to any kit clubs at the moment but I really love what's being done over at Studio Calico.
The answer is most definitely no! I totally miss my scrapping buddies in Chicago and our Scrapurdays. But I kind of think they only hung out with me for my cool scrap space so that's probably why I have none here ;)
