Finally time for a Project Life update! After seven weeks of hemming + hawing, I decided to switch my 2014 album to the Becky Higgins Design A 12x12 pages. I'd been thinking of doing this but hadn't worked on anything until this past weekend. My friends Barb + Josie came over for some Scrapurday action and helped me make a new gameplan for the album.
I did 12x12 in 2012 with only one page per week. I didn't get very much done, I think about 20 weeks. Last year I used a Simple Stories 6x8 Sn@p album and I loved that system. It worked well and I was able to stick things in randomly. For this year, I decided to switch back to 12x12 because I'd like to have a bit more of a cohesive album. And I just really like the look. It's fun to switch things up and I'm planning on using some 6x8 pages when I travel this summer.
My goal for this album is to keep it simple. Really simple. Focus on the photos and not so much on product. I want to be able to get it done without a ton of time or planning. That's the only way I think it will work with my time.
So on Saturday I made some real progress and got enough completed to almost be caught up. Hoo-RAH! Here are three of the weeks that I finished. For some reason my photos of the Project Life spreads never turn out great unless I take everything out of the pockets... any tips on shooting it are much appreciated.
I'm going Monday through Sunday this time and I included the last bits of December in my Week One. I want to do more see through elements like I did in my December Daily, so there are vellum die cut snowflakes on the right side. I also finally put more printed paper from Tina's shop into my album. I've been hoarding it because I love it so much.
Friday Night Lights quote is from my Game Day stamp set, lots of Kelly Purkey labels and letter stickers, and my washi tape. Ratio of iPhone photos VS SLR photos: all to zero (including photos taken on friend's Galaxy phones.)
I skipped Week Two because it was CHA and I haven't figured out how to tackle that quite yet. Week Three was filled with Palm Springs and then I added some fun back at home on the end of the spread. I also love that both Week One + Three have photo strips that I cut down and fit oh so perfectly in the pocket.
More Kelly Purkey stickers and labels, wood veneer from a Studio Calico Project Life kit, and the "today" card is from my Meg Says Hello kit. Ratio of iPhone photos VS SLR photos: 9 to 4 (including photos taken on friend's Galaxy phones.)
For this spread I used a lot of pieces from the Start Fresh Kit I sold last month. It's a rainbow spread. I also added in one more see-through pocket with a snowflake. I was home for the whole week and didn't take a ton of photos, so I added in lots of filler cards. (We did see Frozen, which I loved and was one of the highlights of the week!)
I created the Five W's card using supplies from the Start Fresh Kit and cut the words out of vellum with my wafer thin die. The big pink letters are Studio Calico as are the little wood veneer XX's. The "life is grand" stamp is from my Hello World Kit in my shop. Ratio of iPhone photos VS SLR photos: all to zero (including photos taken on friend's Galaxy phones, an Instax, and SnapChat from Amanda.)
One thing I am planning on keeping consistent is the photo of me in the top left corner with white Kelly Purkey letter stickers. Other than that, I am planning on lots of photos and a spread that feels cohesive across the two pages. Whew doggies, that was one long post! If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments and I'll reply.
